 I wasn't to prepared for this weeks pretty releases as I was coming back from a getaway and my son has summer volunteering to do so my time has been limited. I did manage to create some digital layouts though.

Best gnomes forever - Bundle by WendyP Designs

Here's my layout using the above digital kit. I love the lil gnomes included in this digital kit, I didn't use any 😕but they are adorable. I scrapped my daughter and her besties at her graduation. I love that they came out to support her and have remained strong despite being in different schools. These girls are keepers and deserve that title of besties for sure!

Sweet Shoppe Satruday-Digital Layouts-Sketch

 Hello my Digital|Scrapbooking friends... It's Sweet Shoppe Saturday release and I'm going to share 3 layouts I've done with three different kits. You can click on images and it will take you to my gallery if you'd like to see more of my digital layout creations. I've been slacking for awhile and not posting on here.

 

A Beautiful Day by Simple Pleasure Designs by Jennifer Fehr

I like to look back at my gallery occasionally and recreate clusters of flowers to fit my digital layouts and that's what I did here. I love the flowers, greenery, digital elements & vintage cards she put into this kit. I wanted to put it with a memory from a vacation pool photo so I made it B&W.

  My Man! all-in-one Bundle by Joyce Paul and NBK Design

 We just celebrated Father's Day so here's another tribute to our man of the house. As I said above I 

love to recreate designs that work for me and inspire me at the moment I look at the kit. The circular word art made me want to create circles, yes, that My Man word art is included in the kit. Go on and check it out.

 A month in review: June by Blagovest Gosheva

This layout is also a repeat of previous digital layouts I've created in the past. June is right about to end and this kit is great for documenting your day in the life, project life, pocket life, whatever you like to call it but documenting your monthly events, schedules, day to day. This is how I used it, I made my strips of paper and used it to to tuck in the cards and photo frames & made clusters of flowers to add in front of the photos. Definitely do-able for just a regular layout spread!

Froggy Friday Digital Kit Release @ The-LilyPad -Sketch

I saw this patriotic kit and knew right away that I wanted to have lots of stars on my page to hi-lite a few of the papers included in this kit. Yes, the July alphas are included in this collection. I love the way she made them with the black outline and polka dots. 

The torn frames are not included in this kit they are from the late Dawn Inskip.

Syngnathidae Complete Collection | Rachel Jeffries Designs

For my digital layout I used the digital kit above. The floating jelly fish is a png doodle or brush i added on top of the already existing mixed media paper. I also added various painted algae from the elements kit. 

The white frame is not included in the kit, it's from the late Dawn Inskip. 

If you have never checked out Rachel Jefferies work please do so her Mixed Media Digital kit are a must have in your stash!

National Minority Donor Awareness Week

I will be on the radio today. I have agreed to be a spokesperson for this important mission Donate Life. 
It's my personal story regarding my greatest loss in Sept/2010 my daughter Charlie Gonzalez and making the decision to donate her organs. 
I do this for many reasons. I want to honor my daughter Charlie's memory, bring awareness to others that it's ok to discuss donation with your loved one's and Hope for all those that received something of her's. New Hope!!

I decided to go ahead with a news release regarding Charlie's Donation Story and this is the full article here- LifeChoice Donor Services: Minority donors needed  They have a photo of her which is great b/c it puts a face w/our story. This is just my part but the whole article is really interesting and bringing awareness to Donate Life/LifeChoice Donor Services, Inc in CT

However, before there can be organs to donate, there must first be awareness. Seventeen-year-old Charlie Gonzalez of East Windsor is an example of that awareness. When her life was suddenly cut short, her mother Mary Martinez instantly knew that Charlie would want her organs to be donated.

“I hadn’t thought about it, but she had. We talked about “The Bodies” exhibit and she expressed how cool it was and how we could learn so many interesting things from that exhibit. She said if I ever go before you, please donate my body to science. So we did in a way,” said Martinez.

Charlie was a high school senior when her life ended. She was creative and loved to draw and read. She was also a great listener with an ear for helping people solve problems. For that reason, it was no surprise to her family that she wanted to become a nurse. Ultimately, saving lives is exactly what she did.

“I’m proud that she lives on inside someone else. Her organs helped other people. It makes a big impact on their lives. She helped each individual person live on just a little longer than they would have. She gave their families hope and time to keep on loving each other.”

When it comes to organ donation, there are many myths. For one, it’s sometimes suggested that medical personnel don’t work quite as hard to save people who are designated organ donors. Martinez wants to set the record straight, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“The triage care she received from the ambulance crew was what brought her back right before reaching the hospital. The Hartford Hospital ER doctors took over and continued the triage and stabilized her,” she said. “Everyone I dealt with was compassionate and concerned about Charlie. At the end of the three days, we were advised that she was brain dead and every test that could be done to determine that was performed. We had no doubts about what we were being told. We knew she had been very well cared for and every attempt to help her had been exhausted.” The End.
